Set in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Foothills, Grass Valley is known for its picturesque beauty and community engagement. Like many of the northern California cities, its history dates back to the Gold Rush when the city developed from its established mine. Grass Valley is home to the Empire and North Star Mines, some of the richest in California’s history.
Grass Valley is now home to a wide variety of attractions, community events, and outdoor recreation. This includes its historic downtown area, which commonly celebrates the town’s Cornish heritage along with places to eat, shop, and mingle. While that may be reason enough to pay Grass Valley a visit, this doesn’t even include the numerous hiking trails and vineyards surrounding the city.
